Monster Energy Kawasaki Down Under is pleased to announce a strong new rider line-up for 2012 with Scotsman Billy MacKenzie going into his third year with the factory Kawasaki team joined in the 450/Open class by reigning Australian MX and SX champion Jay Marmont.

“I feel like 2012 is going to be a solid year,” says Billy. “The last two years have been a steep learning curve for both the team and I but through our hard work and results we have now established ourselves as a top team in the pits. With the backing from Monster and all our sponsors the team has grown bigger and stronger every week.

“I have found a set-up with the 2012 KX450F that I am now completely confident with so with that covered I can concentrate on riding hard and building my speed up with a bike I love. I’m really excited to start the season knowing that the only thing I have to concentrate on is my fitness and riding.”

As well as winning this year’s Super X championship, Marmont won this year’s MX championship for the fourth consecutive year, an achievement only ever achieved once before. Marmont was also the Australian SX champion in 2003 and 2004 and finished fifth overall in the 2005 AMA West Coast Lites SX series.

“I’m excited and up for the new challenge,” says Jay. “It’s awesome to be on a new bike and I’m starting to gel already with the bike and the new team. I’m looking forward to returning home this weekend and just riding the new KX450F and becoming familiar with it before returning to QLD in mid January for further testing.”
