Scottish fans will get to see local hero and DBR columnist Bryan MacKenzie make his debut for the new Pendrich KTM team at round four of the Red Bull Pro Nationals this weekend at Duns Motocross.

Fresh optimism for the 27-year-old going into Duns, following his team switch earlier this week, means the Lex Luthor lookalike is fully fired-up for MX2 action in front of his home fans at the spectacular Borders track.

“After the news at the beginning of the week there was no way I was gonna allow my head to drop so close to my only home race of the season,” says Irn Bry. “I’ve been working really hard on getting myself in a position to be able to be as competitive as possible at Duns this weekend and for the rest of the season – physically and in terms of support – and I’m pleased to say that I’m in pretty good stead now with the formation of the new Pendrich KTM team.

“There’s no better place for us to launch the new set-up than at a national race only 30 miles away from where Pendrich Height Services and myself were born and bred and with a bit of luck and local support we hope to start this new chapter on a high.”

MX2 series leader Steven Lenoir will have plenty to say about the matter though despite this being his first visit to Duns. Reigning champ Elliott Banks-Browne, overall winner at round one, is back from injury and looking for a result to boost the rest of his season too.

Patriotic support won’t end with Irn Bry though as MX1 series leader Stephen Sword, born and bred in Lockerbie just like that Wimbledon finalist fella Andy Murray (that’s totally not true by the way as Murray was born in Glasgow and grew up in Dunblane but let’s not let the facts get in the way of quality journalism *wink*), will be pushed hard by Dutchman Marc De Reuver and Irish ace Martin Barr.

A full programme of Red Bull Elite Youth Cup action plus two-stroke racing fills out the support race timetable.

There’s plenty going on for spectators away from the track including freestyle motocross displays, bike trials demos plus Sean Lawless, Dora the Explorer and Bob the Builder in the Kidzone.

Duns Motocross is located three miles west of Duns, postcode TD11 3NS.
