In a statement today Tom Arnold the promoter of the GT Nationals, powered by 94 MX announced the cancellation of the series.

Arnold says that over recent months they have tried very hard to bring a fantastic series on national circuits with a focus on kids only.

A combination of issues, including many date changes across the various race calendars, a shortfall of rider entries and the use of many of the same national tracks has made it difficult to create a viable championship.

In the statement Tom Arnold says: “The amount of date changes to the national calendar is bizarre and almost impossible to make anything stick! We are therefore withdrawing the series for 2016.

“We apologise to the 129 registered riders but unfortunately need minimum 200 to make the series work.”

Arnold said that refunds will be issued to all registered riders but if any riders would like their payments continued over to the Lucas Oil Auto GP they can contact him via Facebook private message.

This may not be the last we see from the GT Nationals, “we will be back stronger in 2017 to give it another shot,” added Arnold.
