This weekend the 2017 FIM World Motocross Championship rolls up in Indonesia for the first time since 1997 for round two of the 19 round series.

Pangkal Pinang on Bangka Island plays host to the world’s elite of motocross, and we’ve got our first look at the circuit with our gallery.

The pictures were taken after a huge downfall of rain, but it’s hot, with temperatures expected to be around 29°C over the weekend, so it can dry up if there’s no more rain. That could be a big if, though, with more rain expected tomorrow afternoon.

The track team are still hard at work putting the finishing touches to the MXGP circus that we see at every round, so we’re of course not seeing it at its finished best in these images.

There will be more action on track this weekend than in Qatar, with the opening round of the FIM Women’s Motocross Championship getting underway late in the afternoon on Saturday. Hopefully, the track holds up for them.

We’ll have more updates as we get into the racing on Saturday.
