The FIM has opened proceeding against Anastaysia Nifontova – a rider in the snappily titled Women’s Cross Country Rallies World Cup…

According to an FIM press release the Russian desert racer – who is also a keen skier which proves she’s a highly versatile and open-minded athlete – has been provisionally suspended after a WADA urine test showed traces of Meldonium.

The test had been taken at the recent Moroccon Rallye at the start of October. Nifontova may appeal and ask for her B sample to be analysed.

Whether she’ll be cleared to race the Dakar in January is still unconformed…
