The Brits storm the podium in Erzberg as they finish 1-2-3-4 in the world’s most extreme Extreme Enduro…
Jonny Walker takes a sensational victory in the Erzberg Red Bull Hare Scramble on the factory KTM beating fellow Brits Dougie Lampkin, Ben Hemingway and Paul Bolton across the line. Ben’s brother Dan is the final rider to make it to the finish in seventh as fog descends on the mountain and the event is ended prematurely on safety grounds.
Before that though there’s even more fog-related controversy after early leaders Andreas Lettinbichler and Graham Jarvis get lost and miss checkpoint seven although they’re unaware as they race to the finish. Jarvis crosses the line first but for the second year in a row he’s told he’s out of the running – devastated isn’t the word.
The event’s also devastating for David Knight who crashes heavily in the Prologue and is airlifted from the mountain. Bruised and battered the Manxman suffers no serious damage but is a non-starter for Sunday’s main event.
