British lion Graham Jarvis (Rockstar Energy Husqvarna) roared back to the front of the Red Bull Romaniacs today with a dominant performance on a cold, wet day in the Carpathian mountains.
Torrential overnight forced organisers to cut out some of the most severe hazards but competitors still faced the toughest ā€“ and at almost six hours for the winner the longest ā€“ day so far.
Jarvis, a six-time Romaniacs winner, started the day 2:18 behind defending champion Manuel Lettenbichler (Red Bull KTM) but he hunted down the German to open up a 25-second lead by close of play.
Former winner Wade Young (Sherco) from South Africa started the day in third and maintained this position, although he conceded just over 11 minutes to Jarvis.
Mistakes proved costly for Spainā€™s Alfredo Gomez (Rockstar Energy Husqvarna) but he kept hold of fourth, 18 minutes ahead of Britainā€™s Billy Bolt.
The Red Bull Romaniacs concludes tomorrow.
