The 1,500 entries for the 20th anniversary of one of the world’s most renowned motorcycle off-road festivals was snatched up in under an hour.

The Erzbergrodeo’s fascination keeps flying high in the 20th year of the worldwide unique motorcycle off-road event, held in the very heart of Austria. Shortly after the online registration started this past Tuesday morning, race promoter Karl Katoc announced that all 1,500 entry spots had been taken.

The unbroken international interest translates into a healthy state for the 20th anniversary of one of the world’s most renowned Xtreme Enduro races, which could establish itself as a real attraction for the world’s best dirt bike athletes. Considering the disastrous weather conditions of the 2013 event, the organisers honestly didn’t expect to witness another record breaking registration procedure for 2014.

“It’s really remarkable that not even heavy downpours and snowfall restrict the enthusiasm for the Erzbergrodeo,” says a pleased Karl Katoch at the start of registrations.

“The interest of pro-riders and factory teams is also tremendous, so we are able to expect a superlative starting grid next year. Additionally, we are planning to present the Erzbergrodeo legends – which includes all Red Bull Hare Scramble champions from 1995 until today – in a very spectacular special race event. Everyone who wasn’t able to catch an entry spot should come and celebrate at Erzberg in 2014 – the anniversary edition is going to be an outstanding experience for all visitors.”

Interested riders still have the opportunity to add themselves to the Erzbergrodeo waiting list for entry spots. Mark Schilling, head of administration, explains the registration procedure: “The definite allocation of the starting numbers is connected with the date of payment of the starting fee. To secure his entry spot, registered riders should pay their starting fee within the next two weeks. If a competitor misses that deadline, the entry spot goes to another rider from the waiting list. So it absolutely makes sense to add your name to the waiting list.”
