Dean Ferris still has to confirm a team and bike for the 2016 FIM Motocross World Championship…

The former MX2 Grand Prix winner has been steering a works-backed FC350 Husqvarna for the Belgian Wilvo Nestaan crew and although he has battled some fitness and injury issues has been on the fringes of the podium in France, Germany and Sweden.

He lies 12th in the championship for what is his first full-time campaign in the premier class after an aborted attempt at AMA Supercross and Motocross in 2014 and then having to deal with a broken femur after a crash at the penultimate round of MXGP last year while filling in for the injured Tyla Rattray.

Ferris could still have an opportunity with Husqvarna as the Red Bull IceOne crew are allegedly keen on three athletes for 2016 and if he remained in ‘white’ then he would form an Australian double act with Todd Waters. Max Nagl is expected to lead the Kimi-Raikkonen-owned squad once more. Ferris could also find some options with Honda Motor Europe or maybe even Suzuki if Steven Frossard elects to stay with Monster Energy Kawasaki.

Ferris has stressed that he would only compete in the USA again if he could focus on the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Nationals and not have to consider Supercross. If he returns to Australia then he’ll have to be regarded as a firm title favourite for what is viewed as a strong national series.
