HIMX are in attendance at the International Dirt Bike Show and took the opportunity to launch the 2017 Hawkstone International.
As one of the most popular motocross events in the UK, fans are always eager to know the date and the organisers have moved quickly to announce as early as possible. Fans can now mark February 5 on their event calendar.
The organisers hope by announcing early they can avoid clashing with the other major Internationals. HIMX also confirmed that they will again be supported by Be Wiser Insurance as title sponsor.
“Following our first sponsorship of last year’s Be Wiser Hawkstone International we are delighted to be continuing our support and sponsorship of the event in February 2017,” said a spokesperson for Be Wiser Insurance.
In 2016 HIMX had to run early in February and it worked perfectly – the weather was extremely kind to them and the crowd was exceptional. Hopefully, this can be repeated in 2017 on February 5 with HIMX working hard to bring in several GP stars. The organisers hope to release some of the big names in the coming months and if you’re looking to enter yourself, entries are open now for the MX1 and MX2 classes and after the success this year, the support class will once again be MXY2.
For the fans, it’s the first chance to see riders and teams shaking down the new machines and to see who’s setting the quickest on their new rides. And with no British Grand Prix in 2017 the Be Wiser Hawkstone International is a great opportunity to see some of the best riders on the planet battle against each other at one of the most historic MX circuits. “Once again we are really looking forward to the event in 2017,” said event secretary, Gary Ford. “We are hoping to draw some world class riders to the event and have a good shake down before the GPs kick off.
“We are really pleased that Be Wiser Insurance have once again committed the Hawkstone International as title sponsor and it will be great to work with them again.
“Entries are now open and people can enter the MX1, MX2 or MXY2 class by contacting me on ford542@btinternet.com.”
Be Wiser added: “We are looking forward to being involved again with the HIMX team and we are sure it will provide some great and exciting racing prior to the start of the race season.”
Every year the event welcomes thousands of spectators who enjoy free parking, a great family day out and most importantly, the racing is always action-packed. The first riders are on track from 9am and the racing concludes around 4.30pm, with the awards ceremony following shortly afterwards.
With some of the best riders in the world scheduled to attend it’s once again going to be the best way to kick off the motocross season in the UK.
