The Arenacross series signs off in Liverpool’s Echo Arena where a fourth place finish is good enough for Adam Chatfield to take the AXUK title…
Buildbase Honda’s Adam Chatfield finally laid claim to the 2013 Arenacross Pro crown at the Echo Arena in Liverpool after fighting back through the pack from a terrible start. While those around him lost their cool Adam kept it together to survive a crash-filled Main Event.
It was Adam’s worst finish of the season but the vital points he picked up for fourth were enough to back up his 1-1-2 card going into the Liverpool showdown and keep him ahead of closest rival Jack Brunell who crashed out of the lead on the final lap.
“It’s great,” says the Buildbase Honda rider, “I’m so happy to be the 2013 Arenacross champion. I made it hard work for myself today and got the worst start I’ve had all series in the Main Event. I could see Jack was in front and I panicked a bit at first but then I pulled myself together and started making passes.
“Jack went down at the end and I really feel for him but that’s racing and by that point I had enough points to win the title.”
Brunell’s crash handed the Main Event win to Putoline Honda’s Nev Bradshaw who also leapfrogged the Maxxis Kawasaki by LPE rider in the championship standings to move up to second.
Liverpool also saw James Harrison claim the Rookies crown after a third dominant win of the series. In the Youth classes a rider’s best three out of four scores count towards the championship and the Lanes Kawasaki rider’s performance more than made up for his DNF at round three.
Mitchell Lewis claimed the BW85cc title after defeating series-long rival Joe Jefferies in a hard-fought final while in the SW85s and 65s Dylan Woodcock and Rossi Beard retained their unbeaten records.
