The weather was once again a big player at Round Six of the 2013 ACU Maxxis British Motocross Championship which took place on the Desertmartin circuit in Northern Ireland. The rain drenched the sandy track and riders left ruts and holes which challenged the most skilled racers in the country.

Buildbase Honda’s Nico Aubin arrived at the event still carrying a bug which has haunted him now for over a week but moto one got off to a good start with both Aubin and one-day Buildbase recruit Jason Clermont in the top five out of the gate. Unfortunately the moto ended suddenly for both as they suffered sand-filled radiators which caused their motors to die. MX1 series leader Kristian Whatley holeshot and lead the opening moto, only to crash over one of the bigger table-top jumps, then fought from outside the top twenty to eventually finish fourth.

The second moto didn’t go that much better for Aubin who managed sixth at the flag as Clermont battled through to an eventual 13th from a poor start.

The rain thankfully stopped for the final moto but an exhausted Aubin retired from the race after five laps leaving Jason Clermont flying the Buildbase flag, finishing 12th.

The penultimate round of the ACU Maxxis British Motocross Championship will be held at Hawkstone Park, Shropshire on Sunday August 11. See you there.
