Brit Down Under Billy MacKenzie’s ended the Aussie National series in third after taking his Monster Energy Kawasaki to second overall at the final round of the series at Coolum in Queensland.

Throughout the series the Scot showed blistering speed and won plenty of races and overalls but a few injury hit rounds cost him the title.

“This series for me wasn’t the best,” admits Billy. “I really wanted to win the championship after finishing second last year. The competition was strong this year and we made too many mistakes. I picked up three injuries this year and had three bad rounds so it’s been tough but we came away with third in the championship and made the best of a bad situation. I had a blast though, it’s been a fun year.”

“I think Billy could’ve done a lot better than he did,” reckons team boss Troy Carroll. “Billy’s a strong rider and I’ve got a lot of faith in that guy and his outright speed is amazing. I think things just didn’t click properly for him this year. Definitely next year we’ll come back and give it another go if he wants to be here. Bring on SuperX.”

Billy now heads home to the UK to see family and to race the British championship round at Duns followed by the British GP at Matterley Basin on August 20-21. He’ll then return to Oz to race the Open class at the first round of the 2011 Monster Energy SuperX Championship in Melbourne on October 22.
