More crashes blunted Billy MacKenzie’s charge at round four of the Aussie Super X championship at Maitland. In his first full season of Down Under supercross, Billy ran 6-11-6 for ninth overall and holds fifth in the standings with just one round to run at Ipswich, Queensland, next weekend.

“I don’t feel as frustrated as I have the last few rounds,” says the Scot. “I’ve had an average day but my riding has been a little better than the last few rounds. I felt more confident today, I felt I was flowing a lot better. I’m getting good starts and battling up front with the guys, I just need to sort my whoop sections out really. If I can get that down, I think I could be in with a shot for a podium at Ipswich.”

“I think Billy’s fitness was a little bit down and he didn’t have the speed tonight,” reckons Monster Energy Kawasaki Team Manager Troy Carroll, “but having said that it’s Billy’s first season in supercross and we just have to keep working and moving forward and see what we can do. We didn’t expect him to come out and win the championship.”
