Cab Screens MX announced last night that Ashley Smith will be joining the team as their MX2 rider for the rest of 2015. Ashley takes the place of George Clarke in MX2, after the team recently announced that George and Cab Screens MX have gone their separate ways.

Ashley will continue to be personally supported by Moto-Ward, and will ride under the Cab Screens MX/Moto-Ward banner.

“Ashley has a great pedigree and we’re so pleased to have him under our awning for the rest of the year,” Lee Webber from Cab Screens said.

“He’s a great addition to the team and we hope to see him add to his Maxxis Championship points tally,” added Webber.

The current GT Cup under-23 champion who is sitting 29th in the British MX2 Championship, will race the Cosworth powered Cab Screens Yamaha at the remaining four British rounds, as well as other selected races.

Although Moto-Ward will continue to support Ashley, owner of Moto-Ward, Martin Ward said that moving into the Cab Screens team will be an “easy transition”, adding: “We feel the Cab Screens machinery and set-up will only help Ashley move forward.”

Ashley’s first race for the team will be at Blaxhall, Suffolk, for round five of the Maxxis British Championship on June 28, where he will join up with team-mates Josh Coleman and Dan Thornhill.
