Those watching the live timing feed of the MXGP of Europe may have noticed that Britain’s Adam Sterry dramatically dropped down the field in the opening MX2 moto in Valkenswaard today.

The British MX2 champion was then absent from the start gate for the second moto.

Although Sterry did have an off on Saturday that hurt his qualifying race, this wasn’t the reason behind his absence for Sunday’s moto two.

In fact in was contact with Calvin Vlaanderen in the first moto on Sunday that was the cause of Sterry’s troubles.

This evening, Sterry confirmed the issue. But rather than dwell on another injury niggle, he’s keeping his spirits up and hoping for the best once he has further tests.

“Motocross is testing sometimes,” said Sterry on social media. “I had a coming together and just put my leg out and torn something in my knee while up the sharp end in moto one – had to pull in with the pain.

“Hopefully nothing too serious – got more checks tomorrow. Annoying as we made some good steps this week. We will be back!”

We’ll keep you posted when we hear more.
