This weekend the outdoor race season kicks off with one of the biggest attended events on the UK motocross calendar. Yes, we’re talking about the Hawkstone International and the great news is it’s a GO!

Despite the horrendous British weather over the past month the Hawkstone track is looking great and the HIMX team have set to work prepping the course for the big event this weekend, Sunday February 23.

Some of the biggest names in motocross will line-up next to each other on the grid this Sunday in what is due to be one of the best races of the season. From the GP World, current World Champion Jeffrey Herlings has committed to racing the event adding to that in MX2: Cremers, Karro, Lenoir, Barr, Dunn, Thornhill, Anstie, Pocock, Bradshaw, Watson and many more.

It will be interesting to see who can push the World Champion on race day. The MX1 class is also packed with some fantastic names including British fans’ favourite Tommy Searle. He has some hard competition in the form of Simpson, de Reuver, Irwin, Gregory, Law, Rattray, Krestinov, Nicholls (injury dependant), Waters, Clarke, Goncalves and many more – full 2014 Hawkstone International entry lists.

Many people have been worried about the weather but the HIMX team have been working hard to ensure this year everyone will enjoy a good day’s racing. They have a new sponsor onboard called ‘EVE’. They supply make shift trak matting for car parks and walkways and this will be in place at Hawkstone this weekend. With the forecast in Shrewsbury looking good this week the entire HIMX team are excited about putting on a great event for the fans and riders.

Some videos of the track and car park have been uploaded on the HIMX Facebook page.

Tickets are only available to buy on the gate and will be £25 per adult including a free race programme and under 14’s are free. Parking on site is also free and camping will be £20 per pitch – motorhome/tent/caravan.
