Supercross superstar James Stewart will return to action next year according to a new report out this week.

The Florida-based 31-year-old, who sat out last season, is planning to make his comeback in the 2018 Monster Energy Supercross series on a 450 Honda ā€“ although it’s unclear how long he plans to hang about for.

“I’m happy to announce that I will ride the first three races of AMA Supercross season,” he has been quoted as saying in the report.

“I’m not ready 100 per cent but I will give my best for the fans to enjoy,” it continued. ” After the first three races I will decide will I race rest of the season. See you all at Anaheim 1.”

To the best of our knowledge, outside of the little-known blog we discovered this on, the report hasn’t run on any other off-road media website. So on a scale of one to 10, how much of a lock is this?

Well put it this way, we wouldn’t put any money on it. On saying that, one of our tog contributors has snapped him on a Honda (above) at a recent JS7 ride day and there’s even video out there too. Hardly conclusive proof I know.

The 2018 Monster Energy Supercross kicks off at the Angel Stadium, Anaheim, on January 6 and you can be sure we’ll know for certain well before then.

In the meantime, queue the eye-rolls and fake news hashtags.
