Still without a ride after splitting with his Standing Construct KTM team, Max Anstie is weighing up his options for 2020 and may head Stateside if he can get a deal – although his main focus remains on the MXGP class.

“I’m doing the best that I can to try and push everything along but it’s not easy,” he said. “I’m pushing some things in America but they’re so slow with figuring out what they’re doing. If I’m going to be going to America to do supercross and motocross next year I need to be out there now and I’m losing time by just not knowing what I’m doing.

“I’m hoping as soon as possible I know what I’m doing but we’re just waiting and seeing. Ideally, I want to stay in the GPs – I think that would be the best thing for me. It’s not easy but we’ll figure it out.”

Max missed out on a ride in the Motocross of Nations – the traditional end-of-season shop window – after being diagnosed with a punctured lung but the good news is that he’s now fighting fit.

“I’m doing all right. We’re back into winter riding now. It’s crazy. A few weeks ago everything was good but it’s been raining so much and everywhere is wrecked.

“I’m still riding and training just to keep sharp and get back to 100 per cent with my lung and my shoulder but I don’t know what I’m preparing for although I feel back to normal again. I know I won’t be on this bike next year so it sucks a little bit.

“The Nations would have been lovely to do but to be honest it looked pretty wet and horrible.

It was nice to get a bit of luck on our side with a last-lap problem for the French and I thought the conditions were perfect for our boys – Nathan (Watson) with his enduro experience and we know what Shaun (Simpson) is like, he loves that – so it was awesome and I was really pleased for them.”
