Swiss motocross ace Arnaud Tonus took a tumble during the qualifying race in Shanghai at the MXGP of China forcing the 28-year-old out of the race.
Yamaha Racing now reports that Tonus was struggling with his breathing and has been taken to the local hospital.
“Arnaud Tonus crashed hard on the second lap of the MXGP Qualifying Race and was left completely out of breath,” the team wrote on social media. “The Swiss rider has been transported to hospital for further observation.
“An update on his situation will be posted when available, but for now we are wishing Arnaud the absolute best outcome.”
Tonus sits fifth in the FIM Motocross World Championship and can be caught by Pauls Jonass if the Swiss rider fails to score in the points-paying motos tomorrow. Although his fans will be more concerned that he is 100 per cent fit for the upcoming Motocross of Nations at the end of the month.
