The Monster Energy Yamaha Factory and Monster Energy Wilvo Yamaha MXGP teams are set to travel halfway across the world for the 18th and final round of the MXGP and MX2 World Championships.
The season finale will take place for the first time in history in Shanghai, China, where all three of Yamaha’s Factory and Official MXGP riders, Jeremy Seewer, Gautier Paulin and Arnaud Tonus, have a mathematical shot at claiming a silver or bronze medal.
Monster Energy Kemea Yamaha MX2’s Jago Geerts is also jetting out to China where he hopes to clinch the bronze medal in the MX2 Championship.
Currently 43-points ahead of Gautier Paulin in the Championship Standings, Jeremy Seewer is expected to secure his position as vice World Champion in the first race of the weekend.
Because anything can happen in racing, Paulin still has an outside shot at finishing second overall with the result still being mathematically possible.
Although, it is not the target as the Frenchman only has 11-points over the rider in fourth and is fully focusedĀ to clinch the bronze medal.
Arnaud Tonus is determined to finish his season on a high note as he looks to bounce back from a difficult weekend in Turkey. The Swiss rider is fifth in the Championship Standings.
After celebrating a sixth podium finish this season, Jago Geerts hopes to carry the same impressive momentum into the final round of the 2019 MX2 World Championship.
The 19-year-old Belgian is currently third in the championship with a 10-point advantage over the rider in fourth. He is determined to lock-down the bronze medal at the all-new track and venue in China.
Jeremy Seewer: “I am going to enjoy China. I can take it lightly, I have quite a big points gap, I don’t need to push too much for the championship. “I’m excited to see the country, I have never been to China before and we will see about the track. No one knows what to expect, it will be the same for everybody. I will try and end the season in good style.
“I just missed the podium in Turkey, so I hope to end the season back on the box.”
