Jamie Carpenter signs for Crescent Yamaha’s British MX2 squad

Jamie Carpenter will race the MX2 class for Crescent Yamaha next season with support from Yamaha UK.

The 21-year-old former MXY2 champ turned pro with REVO Husqvarna in 2017 but a severed ACL sustained in a first turn crash at Lyng at the start of the year put him out for the season. Since then he’s been steadily building and has spent a lot of time racing in Holland.

This season Jamie finished third in the Pro MX2 class of the Michelin MX Nationals and he’s aiming to go two places better next year with the support of the Dorset dealership.

“They’re only about five minutes from where I live and we’ve talked a few times over the past few years about trying to piece something together,” said Jamie. “Paul [Denning] managed to link a deal with Yamaha UK with some budget to go towards me. They’re a very professional set-up and I’m looking forward to next season.”

Jamie will race the ACU British Motocross Championship and the MX Nationals next year along with selected EMX250 rounds and domestic events.

“I’ll do some European rounds as well but on a selective basis – I’m not sure if I’ll commit to the whole thing just yet. I’ve set some goals. I finished third in the MX Nationals 250 championship this year so the goal is to get a couple of steps higher up. I’m just looking forward to getting in the mix next year.”
