Dylan Walsh and James Dunn will chase major domestic MX1 silverware next year and contest selected MXGP and EMX rounds as part of the all-new REVO Seven Kawasaki team.
After taking a year out of competition, REVO boss and Team Principal Mark Yates has joined forces with Kawasaki UK and the Seven clothing brand to sign the pair.
Dylan won the ACU British Motocross MX2 Championship for REVO in 2019 and, with this yearās series cancelled, the 22-year-old Kiwi is looking to make it back-to-back crowns by winning on a KX450 in 2021.
āI canāt wait for next year,ā said Dylan. āIām going into the British championship as the reigning MX2 champion and hopefully we can pull all the pieces together and come out as MX1 champion. Weāre also doing a few GPs which will be good.ā
As well as contesting the British championship on a pair of KX450s, Dylan and 25-year-old James will be active in Europe with Dylan targeting a number of European MXGP rounds while James could possibly compete in selected EMXOpen races.
āIām excited about 2021 ā it should be a good year and Iām looking forward to it,ā said James. āIāve only ridden a 450 Kawasaki once but that was probably three years ago so I donāt have a lot of experience with the bikes but itās great to be back with the REVO team. Theyāre good people and put a lot back into the sport so Iām very happy to be riding for them again.ā
Mark is relishing a return to racing following a successful 2019 season when Dylan and his then team-mate Alvin Ćstlund ended the year first and second in the ACU British MX2 series.
āWe decided to take a year out in 2020 but REVO will be back in the paddock next season,ā he said. āWe have forged a great relationship and a strong bond with Dylan over the last two years. He had a number of opportunities but he wanted us involved. He knows he can trust us and that weāll do what we say we will ā when we say we will ā and that weāre looking out for his interests as well as our own.
āI would say that Dylanās probably the favourite next year. Considering that this will only be his second season on a 450 his raw speed is incredible. Heās as fast as anyone out there and heāll be a lot more race-ready going into 2021. We are still the reigning MX2 British champions so Dylan is moving up into MX1 and looking for the double. Thatās our main focus.
āWe all know how fast and stylish James can be when heās on his A game. He hasnāt ridden this year so heās going to have to get his bike fitness built up but I know heās already training. Weāre not expecting him to set the world on fire but it would be nice to see him get up into the top five on occasion.ā
Kawasaki UKās Ross Burridge is delighted with the new team.
āHaving worked with Mark and the REVO team a few years back itās exciting to once again have them as part of the Team Green family,ā he said. āThey have come a long way as a team since we last worked together and Iām eager to see what the team and their strong rider line-up can achieve in the newly revamped British MX Championship.ā
