Red Bull KTM has unveiled its factory three-rider line-up for 2021 with Marvin Musquin and Cooper Webb contesting the 450 class, and Maximus Vohland forming the backbone of the team’s 250 effort that has been brought in-house for the first time since 2015.
Musquin, a two-time world MX2 champion, has been with the team since 2009 in both Europe and the US. He missed the last supercross season with a knee injury but the Frenchman looked fit and fast when he returned for the outdoor championship.
Webb won the 450 title for the team in 2019 and came close to retaining it this year but ultimately came up just short in second. A back injury put him out of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship but, on the back of a new two-year deal, expect him to come out swinging on January 16 at Houston’s NRG Stadium.
Vohland, the son of former GP star and factory Kawasaki rider Tallon, makes his pro debut next year but already has an impressive CV with five Loretta Lynn’s championships and the title of 2019 AMA Youth Rider of the Year.
“We are very confident in Marvin and Cooper for the 2021 season,” said Team Manager Ian Harrison. “Having missed the 2020 season [Marvin] is eager to get back to racing SX and being healthy is a big part of the puzzle.
“Cooper has a lot of experience coming into 2021 and we are very excited to see how things progress now that he has been with us for two years. Cooper also has a clean bill of health, so we are confident that he will be ready to keep the momentum rolling into 2021.
“Max has had a long and successful journey as an amateur with KTM and we are happy to be involved in the start of his young career. Time will tell how he manages the ups and downs of professional racing and we will be here to help support him in every way we can.”
