Earlier today the news broke that Ken Roczen had undergone successful surgery but the injury was worse than first diagnosed. Roczen has now followed that up with some further insight, including some graphic images of his right-hand post-surgery.

Roczen came together with Cooper Webb during the Monster Energy Supercross Main Event at San Diego ā€“ Roczen’s Honda flipped and his right arm got caught in Webbā€™s rear wheel.

The German had a CT scan on Monday and then surgery followed yesterday (Friday, February 16).

It’s reported the injuries Roczen suffered are worse than initially diagnosed ā€“ you can read more about that here ā€“ and he will now be out for 6-8 weeks.

It’s a huge blow to Team Honda HRC and to Roczen personally and will, of course, rule him out of the championship race. But he has shown previously that he is strong and will come back from this.

Roczen said today on social media: “Once again there was a lot going on here. Shattered hand, dislocation of all metacarpals and torn ligaments. Been in A LOT of pain since the surgery. Sometimes we get tested in life. We take care of this sh*t come back and try this again.”

The 23-year-old is clearly suffering and looking at the images below that’s certainly to be expected. All at Dirt Bike Rider wish Ken a full and speedy recovery.

An official public statement from the team has not been given at this time but we’ll update you when any further news comes in.
