Evgeny Bobryshev signs MXGP deal

The BOS GP team has today announced the signing of Evgeny Bobryshev to compete in the FIM Motocross World Championship.

Last week BOS took the highly unusual step of publicly criticising their MXGP rookie signing Benoit Paturel. Within hours it was confirmed they and Paturel had gone their separate ways.

Bobryshev will team up with former MX2 world champion Jordi Tixier and they will compete in all 20 of the MXGP championship rounds, which starts on March 4 in Argentina. “We are particularly proud to announce the signing of #777 in our 2018 MXGP structure,” the statement read.

Although Tixier will race the KTM 450 SX0-F Bobby will saddle up on a Suzuki RM-Z450. Having two brands under the team’s awning doesn’t appear to matter in the slightest to BOS who are looking to showcase their suspension.

“Evgeny Bobryshev – who has signed with a UK MX team for the National championship – came last month to our BOS Suspension headquarters to develop Factory suspension for his 450RMZ. At this time, they realised that any races of the two calendars were the same [no clashes]. The decision was set…the Russian racer will be part of the BOS GP team!

“The fact that Evgeny rides a 450RMZ does not bother us,” explained Olivier Bossard. “It’s even better. We will be present at the 20 MXGPs to show that our suspension is great, so doing it on a European basis and a Japanese base is perfect.”

“The Russian rider has already finished three times in the world top five, he has taken 14 podiums including one unstoppable victory in Germany. Faithful and hardworking, he will undoubtedly be a good partner for the two riders, currently under contract.”

Bobryshev is currently competing in the Power Maxed Arenacross Tour for RFX Suzuki. The Russian failed to make the Main Event at the opening round in Manchester but followed that up with an improved fifth place last weekend in Newcastle.
