Former Australian champion Matt Moss will be unable to race until 2020 after the Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority (ASADA) acknowledged the decision of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) to sanction him for the presence and use of a prohibited substance.
Moss was tested at a round of the Australian national championship in July 2016. His sample was analysed at the Australian Sports Drug Testing Laboratory which detected the presence of Ostarine and its metabolites.
Ostarine, which is banned from all sports, is not even approved for human use in Australia, except for experimental research purposes.
As a result of the CAS decision, Moss was given a four-year ban backdated to July 15 2016 to account for time served under a provisional suspension. He has also been disqualified from any results from the date the sample was taken and must hand back any trophies and prize money.
The ban means Moss will be ineligible to participate, as an athlete or support person, in any sports that have adopted a World Anti-Doping Agency compliant anti-doping policy until July 15 2020.
