ELLIOTT Banks-Browne’s impressive 2-2 performance at Foxhill on Sunday means he jumps from 10th to fifth in the Maxxis MX1 series standings.
“I was out to prove a point today,” he said. “I wanted to come in and finish the season off strong and I have – I just feel as though we should have been doing this from round one really but we’ve had a bit of bad luck along the way and a few big crashes which I didn’t need.
“But it’s been a lot better today. In the first one I had a really good battle with Tommy and I felt like we could have taken it right to the end but unfortunately I boiled the back brake. In the second I felt we could go and do the same – I wanted to race Tommy but on the first lap I didn’t find the right lines, got in a bad rhythm and he rode away from me.
“It was good day, we got second overall and I’ve come from 10th to fifth in the championship after seven DNFs so we salvaged as much as we could.”
Expect EBB to stay with his Geartec Husqvarna team next year which, after four changes of machinery in four years, will give him some much-needed – and long overdue – stability.
“I’m now really looking forward to going into 2018 feeling fit and healthy and on a bike that I’ve been building all year. We’ll certainly be in a lot better position than we were at the start of this season.”
