MX2 world championship pilot Davy Pootjes has announced today an extended deal with KTM, but he’ll move away from the factory team to HSF Logistics KTM for 2017.

This contract extension is some much needed good news for the Dutch youngster with his 2016 season plagued with injury – his last GP race was at the MXGP of Belgium in Lommel back in July. “I’m really happy that I’ve extend my contract with KTM up to and including 2019 and that I will ride for HSF next season,” said Pootjes. “I think HSF is a next level team so I can’t wait to start working with them and I’m really looking forward to the 2017 season.”

We’ve been speculating here at DBR towers whether Jeffrey Herlings would continue with the familiar surroundings of the MX2 awning in his first year in MXGP and this sideways step for Pootjes to the Dutch-based HSF would offer that option. But that’s purely speculation at this time. Either way, HSF is a well-run team and Pootjes should do well there.
