Winner of the last two MX2 Grands Prix, Rockstar Energy Husqvarna’s Max Anstie is keen to represent Great Britain at the Motocross of Nations once more and erase the memories of his shocking accident in practice and qualification at the 2015 edition of the event at Ernee in France.

Anstie admitted after his latest success at Frauenfeld in Switzerland that it took many months and long stretches of the current season to fully recover from damage to his head, neck and vertebrae and the effects on his strength and flexibility. The 23-year-old had been landed on by Austrian Pascal Rauchenecker in what was an unfortunately collision at the hillside French course.
Set for MXGP with Husqvarna in 2017 and now up to fourth in the MX2 championship standings after an inconsistent last term in the class, Anstie is hoping for another attempt at the season curtain-closer and for what will be his swansong on the FC250.
“I haven’t heard anything from Neil [Prince, Team GB overseer] actually but I would have assumed it will be Tommy [Searle], Shaun [Simpson] and myself,” he opined. “I know that Dean [Wilson] is riding well in the States but he has been off a long time with injury. I’m not sure. Conrad [Mewse, his Husky team-mate] has been riding well but I cannot see who else they might put on for MX2. I would like to do it again…it wasn’t so great last year!”
