Monster Energy DRT Kawasaki’s Max Anstie and Hitachi Construction Machinery KTM UK’s Shaun Simpson were both virtually unchallenged at the new-look Canada Heights on Sunday.
Hitachi Construction Machinery Revo KTM UK’s Ben Watson held the red plate going into the event, but a torrid day – claiming just 20 points from a possible 75 – left him losing the series lead to Dyer and Butler KTM’s Steven Lenoir.
Even though Anstie missed the opening round, due to his injury in MXGP, he is now just 16 points behind Lenoir.
Lenoir was delighted to be taking the red plate to round four after pumping out 3-2-3 finishes with Heads and All Threads Suzuki’s Harri Kullas finally finding his form (and better starts) with a 2-4-6 card that put him on the lower step of the podium.

MX1
Simpson’s maximum now means he is 40 points clear of Leok who said he had not been able to push at the sandy Kent circuit due to feeling unwell. Fellow countryman Gert Krestinov (Buildbase Honda Racing Team) took his first podium of the current campaign with 3-2-4 finishes compared to the 2-4-2 of Leok.
Krestinov now takes over third in the series edging his team-mate Kristian Whatley down to fourth who posted 7-5-3 finishes.
The event also incorporated the second round of the MXY2 championship and it was Monster Energy DRT Kawasaki’s Jay Hague who took the top step of the podium and the series’ red plate.
Danger UK Husqvarna’s David Keet posted 6-2-6 results to edge out Oliver Osmaston (MXW Racing Chichester Honda) to third who had a no score second moto, but two race wins.
The new track design went down well with the biggest gathering of spectators of the season, but three red flags during the day made for a later than usual finish.
Simpson maintains his 100 per cent MX1 win record as the series takes a five week break before the action resumes at Hawkstone Park in June.
