Building upon 40 years of successful history behind the KX model range, Kawasaki continues to renew and improve its motocross machines every season. This year is no exception, 2015 will also see the lime green off-roaders step up the competition in their classes with many new features to enhance performance and style.
With the technical know-how of Kawasaki’s engineers and development by top-class riders such as current AMA 450 Supercross Champion Ryan Villopoto, many revisions have been made to the two leading KX bikes. In 2014 the KX450F secured Villopoto his fourth straight Supercross Title, confirming the green machine’s impressive racing credentials. Complementing the KX family success, the KX250F has already claimed many victories in European and World class MX2 races.
New to the KX250F are finer atomising injectors to increase low-mid power and give sharper throttle response and a lighter and stronger bridged-box bottom piston. The separate function front fork on the 250 motocrosser has been upgraded to SFF Type 2 which is preload adjuster equipped and provides better front wheel traction and smoother action. A new oversized petal disc improves stopping power and a pushrod-type front brake master cylinder and front brake pads with a high coefficient of friction deliver strong braking force and superb control, especially for the initial bite and initial-mid stroke characteristics. Adjustable ergonomics allow each rider to adapt the KX250F and KX450F to their individual proportions and riding style. Both the KX250F and the KX450F retain their race-winning features like electronic launch control, easy access to three ‘plug and play’ engine maps to suit any track condition as well as the optional Factory-spec FI calibration kit .
An important development for Kawasaki’s top of the range KX450F is the introduction of the Showa SFF-Air TAC (Triple Air Chamber) front suspension into the class, a component shared with Factory racers. SFF-TAC technology is no stranger to the MX racing scene, but the KX450F is one of the first mass production motorcycles to feature this high-tech component. This innovative front fork offers many advantages such as fork rigidity, extremely smooth action, low weight and a wide range of settings which are easily adjusted.
After having conquered his fourth consecutive AMA 450 Supercross title on the Kawasaki KX450F, Villopoto considers the Kawasaki machine to be the key to victory and anticipates even more to come for the 2015 racing season with the new bike.
Kawasaki Motors Europe racing manager Steve Guttridge is positive that the new KX machines will be even more successful in the coming race season: “We have had strong results from our riders on both the KX250F and KX450F and the AMA success story proves the KX’s winning capacity. With these changes to the 2015 models I am confident we will score many more ‘lime green’ podiums next season.”
The Kawasaki KX250F and KX450F are already renowned for their performance and reliability and the 2015 models are equipped to honour the KX range. With forty years of success to live up to, the new KX250F and KX450F carry Kawasaki’s off-road heritage into the next 40 years with top of the class credentials.
