Arnaud Tonus, Valentin Guillod and Jeremy Seewer are all pushing Switzerland further into FIM Motocross World Championship consciousness thanks to their results and progress in Grand Prix.
In just his third Grand Prix as a full time member of the MX2 pack (he has made half a dozen MX2 appearances as a wild-card needing to fill-in for injured riders through 2012 and 2013) Seewer raced to 10th and 6th positions for ninth overall; three spots behind Guillod with who we was battling for the 2013 EMX title.
“I’m very happy and got two good starts which was the main thing for this result,” the rookie from Bulach said. “In the first five laps I was keeping the same rhythm as the guys before me and the speed was good. I didn’t make many mistakes so I’m really happy with 10th and sixth. I’m looking forward to do this again.”
Slightly built but loose and adaptable on the RM-Z250, Seewer is developing as GP talent and can finally dedicated himself full-time to his profession after graduating from mechanical studies last summer. The Suzuki man was also keenly aware of this ‘purple patch’ for Swiss motocross. “It is special! Switzerland is a really small country for motocross, so to have three guys in the top 10 and a GP winner… this is really good for Switzerland for sure.”
Although the Geneva supercross has become a regular winter event Switzerland have not hosted a round of the FIM Motocross World Championship since 2001 at Roggenburg. Hopefully the continued elevation of these three young starlets will bring the sport back into wider motorcycle circles.
