Almost all of the grand prix riders race in between world championship events to keep them sharp, and Max Nagl is no exception. This year the German, who rides for the Honda World Motocross team, wanted to take part in his national series, and with the agreement of Honda he is competing in it with the KMP Honda Racing Team.
The KMP Honda Racing Team is promoting a new dealership in Germany, and they made an agreement with Honda Europe for the release of Nagl to be able to join them to compete in his ADAC MX Masters national series. So far his campaign has gone well aboard the stock-based CRF450R, as he is leading the championship after three rounds, despite a tough second round in the mud.
“It’s a good way of keeping fresh,” said Nagl. “I really wanted to race in Germany for myself and also for the fans. It’s important to promote the sport in your home country, and I thought it would be difficult to do this, but Honda agreed to let me ride with KMP.”
There are five rounds left of the German series, and Max has just completed round nine of the MX1 World Championship, but the Honda pilot intends to wrap up the title in Germany and utilise the racing there to keep him race-fit for the grand prix series for the remainder of the season.
“The KMP team do a really good job, and I am happy to be working with them. There are some differences with the bike I race in world championship, but we have been very competitive with a lot of success. We have five races left and I am looking forward to working more with the team,” concluded Nagl.
“For us the opportunity to work with Max is one we are very grateful for,” said Alexander Karg from KMP racing. “He’s one of the most important German racers, and brings a huge amount of experience to the team, along with publicity for our dealership. Our goal is to win, and we have to say thanks to Honda Europe and Honda Germany for working out a deal to be able to allow Max to race with us in front of his fans,” concluded Karg.
Nagl’s next event is round 10 of the World MX1 Championship in Uddevalla, Sweden this weekend with the Honda World Motocross team.
