Arnaud Tonus will delay his expected comeback to racing at round three of the Motocross World Championship.
The news comes just two weeks after Tonus had received the all clear form his medical team and is a real blow for the CLS Monster Energy Kawasaki Pro Circuit pilot.
Tonus broke his leg last September at the Motocross des Nations and despite all the positive advice from doctors in France and Switzerland – when he tried to ride last week Arnaud was still suffering intense pain in his leg.
“The situation at the moment is very difficult for Arnaud, and of course for the team” explained Jean Jacques Luisetti from Team CLS Monster Energy Kawasaki Pro Circuit.
“Arnaud has been examined by several doctors since he came back from Qatar, and all agree that there is no medical risk or problem to prevent him riding his Kawasaki again.
“But as soon as Arnaud gets on his bike he has a lot of pain in his leg, and can’t focus on his riding. He made a final attempt yesterday, but it’s just impossible for him to ride; we must visit and talk again with the doctors and specialists to understand the situation.
“We’ve decided to line up Jordan Lacan alongside Alessandro Lupino at Valkenswaard this weekend, but no decision has yet been made about what to do for the following GPs.”
Jordan Lacan rejoined the CLS Kawasaki team last weekend in the MX1 class of the French Elite Championship, and was training recently on a KX250F on sandy tracks near Le Havre.
Lacan traveled to the team workshop in the Netherlands today (Friday) to test the Pro Circuit Kawasaki KX250F as final preparation for the third round of the FIM MX2 Motocross World Championship which will be organised this weekend (Sunday and Monday) at Valkenswaard.
He will race with the number 400 plate as Lacan’s regular race number is no longer available for the GPs.
