British MX1 champ Brad Anderson may have regained the crown a round early at Duns in August but the 30-year-old hates to lose and goes out with a 1-2-1 – and then announces he may be joining Billy Mac in Australia next season where he’s got a Honda deal lined up.
“I’m 95 per cent sure that I’m going to Australia. It’s a new challenge for us. I’ve won the British now so I want a fresh challenge and maybe if I don’t like it I’ll come back the next year and try and win the British again. There’s going to be some really good riders in the British next year and I was really looking forward to the challenge of that but the deal I’ve been offered I can’t really refuse it.”
Brad had taken part in Saturday’s charity run around the Hawkstone track to raise money for Mark Hucklebridge and he feels he might have overdone it the day before the final championship round of the season.
“I did that run yesterday and it took it out of us – I felt it in the second one and I felt it in the last one. Maybe I shouldn’t have run a lap-and-three-quarters yesterday but I did it for Mark.”
But it still doesn’t stop him going out with his fifth overall of the season…
“I’ve been consistent all year and that’s what you have to do at this game to come out on top and I’m just over the moon. PAR Homes and Geoff my mechanic have done an amazing job this year – we’ve had no problems – and it’s great to win the last round and go out with a bang.”
