RHL Activities is pleased to announce that three times world enduro champion David Knight will be racing at the RHL Beach Race, fuelled by Monster Energy, on October 7-9 at Weston-super-Mare along with pro riders Brad Anderson, Paul Edmondson, Tom Church, Lee Edmondson and quad racer Paul Winrow.
Knighter, who has recently been awarded an MBE for his services to motorcycling, returned to enduro competition just over one week ago following his double hip surgery and near four-month lay-off to dominate round five of the British Enduro Championship.
The eight times British champion and enduro legend has a huge amount of accolades to his name and has won the Weston event on five occasions before including one quad race win. The Manxman will be hoping to be nearer to full fitness to challenge for the win again in 2011 aboard his KTM machinery.
Joining him on the line will be the 2011 British MX1 champion Brad Anderson who has raced the exhilarating event a number of times but has yet to take the beach race win. The 30-year-old is looking forward to taking on the three-hour challenge where amateur riders get the opportunity to race against the pros.
In addition to that the International Six Days Enduro record holder for gold medals and four-time world enduro champion Paul Edmondson will be tackling the RHL Beach Race course once again. Edmondson’s younger brother Lee, who is one of the hottest up and coming enduro riders, will also be tackling the course with the aim of taking on his older counterparts for the Weston win.
If that isn’t enough, in the quad class the UK’s most successful quad rider Paul Winrow will be racing, as well as GP motocross rider Tom Church who will be joining the exciting pro-rider line-up.
“My injuries are getting there and I should be near enough back to where I should be for the race at Weston,” says Knighter. “I’m really looking forward to it as it will be a good end of year blast. The event always has a good atmosphere and I enjoy riding in Britain as the spectators are great so I’m looking forward to having a good, fun weekend. I’ve raced Brad there before but anything can happen. Lady luck and bike preparation plays big part but my speed is good so it will be good to race Brad again.”
The maddest, baddest and biggest off-road event on the UK calendar which is a huge test of man and machine with club level racers competing against the pros is certainly going to be an exciting one with its three-hour solo race, side-by-side races, quad races and junior race. The event will also incorporate plenty of off-track entertainment and is an awesome spectacle with up-to 1,000 racers tackling the super-tough dune course which incorporates a 1.5 mile flat-out straight.
