Kiwi Chris Birch takes the stage win but Grimbo still heads the pack after two days of the Red Bull Romaniacs…
A tough day that saw competitors on their bikes for more than six hours really tested the Romaniacs competitors but Birch revels in the super-tough going to take a fine win some three minutes ahead of Jarvis who struggles with navigation and also has a couple of crashes. Despite these problems Grimbo still sits on a 28 minute lead headed into day three of the competition.
“I started off really good and found a good rhythm even though it was difficult in the long grass sometimes,” says Graham. “But then I had a crash, hit a tree and I was also catching up on some hobby riders, waited for them and then had another crash in their dust – that kind of spoiled it a bit. I also missed a few turns so I lost some time there but there are still two days ahead and it’s going to be interesting.”
Andreas Lettinbichler brings his Husqvarna home third while Paul Bolton has another good day, finishing fourth to maintain his fifth place in the overall standings.
