This weekend sees the German GP go off at Teutshenthal – hoorah!
The ninth round of the FIM Motocross World Championship goes off in Teutschenthal this weekend where home country heroes Ken Roczen and Max Nagl will be looking to do it for the home crowd. While Roczen’s more or a less a shoo-in to take victory in the 250F division Nagl’s gonna have his hands full with an on-form Steven Frossard who took a double win in Sweden last weekend, the new red plate holder Tony Cairoli and a highly motivated Clement Desalle who’s another week stronger following his shoulder injury.
Adding even more excitement to the MX1 class is the return of Christophe Pourcel to grand prix competition as he takes Ben Townley’s place on the CLS Kawasaki team while the kiwi sorts his head out. Also lining up for his first GP of the year is Tom Church who moves from Buildbase CCM to the Red Bull HM Plant KTM UK team where he’s standing in for injured Graeme Irwin.
The big battle in Germany though will be between Cairoli and Desalle. Desalle’s been the faster rider so far this year but inconsistency has kept him down – Cairoli on the other hand has just kept plugging away and now sits in pole position. However, if Frossard keeps on snatching maximums he’ll soon be in the hunt too – things is about to get interesting.
While Roczen’s going to want to win this weekend – the first of two GPs this year on home soil – he’s gonna have a fight on his hands as the following four in the title chase are all up for it. You can never count out Herlings and the Yamaha pair of Zach Osborne and Gautier Paulin have been getting faster and faster all summer. Then there’s UK hopefuls Tommy Searle and Max Anstie – both are highly motivated and should go well on the Teutschenthal circuit.
If you’re not headed to the land of beer and bratwursts for the GP this weekend you can catch all four of Sunday’s races live on Motors TV.
