Gusty winds are overcome by gutsy riders at the inaugural Bolddog FMX Championship…

A wild evening made even wilder by strong winds awaited the 5000 or so fans who rocked up at Rougham Airfield for the inaugural Bolddog FMX Championship event. And with a killer course, one badass band, some fine fire breathers and the UK’s leading FMX athletes all in attendance the fans were treated to one hell of a show.

The Amateur comp kicked things off with Jon Ritchie absolutely killing it with his mix of grab and bar tricks including the biggest dead body ever seen in the UK. When the scores were tallied up JR easily took the win ahead of Stu Macey and Ryan Powley and should probably compete in the Pro division next time out.

The Pro class basically boiled down to a battle between Jamie Squibb and Chris Birch. While Squibby was the combo king, Birch’s better extension and a backflip helped swing the decision in his favour. Disco Dave Wiggins nailed third ahead of crowd favourite – and Best Whip winner -Samson Eaton while super-chilled Danny Veale finished fifth.

All in all it was a top night out with the real winner being the British freestyle scene – well done Andy, Dan and the full Bolddog team…
