The 5,500 motocross fans were kept on the edge of their seats over the course of the weekend as the motocross stars of tomorrow battled it out in the four Red Bull Elite Youth Cup classes with the racing of a truly exceptional standard.
This time Nathan Watson (Elite Rookie Class) didn’t have things all his own way and the mantle was passed to James Dunn who took three race wins over the weekend, bagging the overall and the series red plate. Jordan Divall and Jamie McCanney came in second and third respectively with previous series leader Watson taking fourth overall but still in the hunt for the championship.
Red Bull KTM’s Ben Watson (Elite Big Wheel 85cc Class) had to work hard to retain his series red plate. Fraser Viner was the man on form on Saturday with three race wins from three starts to show he’s the new kid to contend with in the UK. Sunday unfortunately didn’t go to plan for this young man who was bitterly disappointed with not getting the overall but he certainly took the challenge to the young Watson. Robert Davidson continued his consistency with another third place overall proving consistency is the key to success.
In the Elite Small Wheel class Sid Evans took three race wins and two seconds to earn him the overall victory with series points leader Jordan Eccles taking two wins, two seconds and an unfortunate 15th to be second overall and retain his red plate. Third overall was a consistent William Keogh who was rarely out of the top five proving he has the speed to run with the leaders.
The Elite Youth Cup 65cc class made for some incredible racing proving that the future of the sport is in bright hands. Twisted 7 Kawasaki rider Harry Kimber took the overall with four out of five race wins and second place went to Dylan Woodcock and third to Tom Grimshaw. Round one winner Alexander Brown had a hard time and only managed sixth overall handing the series red plate to Jed Etchells who took fourth over the weekend.
