It looks like the dream of Chad Reed and Ryan Villopoto going head to head at this weekend’s Red Bull Straight Rhythm is over.

We reported earlier today that Reed has been replaced by SR75 World Team Suzuki’s Cyrille Coulon for the Open Class. But it appears to be that Speedy Reedy is out of the 2017 Red Bull Straight Rhythm altogether.

A social media post from his wife Ellie early this morning suggests that Chad Reed is injured and will miss the chance to rip his smoker this evening. “We made a promise ‘in good times and bad times’…rough ending to a wonderful day,” she wrote.

It’s not conclusive, but with the French supercross veteran being drafted in for the Open Class and this social post I can’t see him at the gate this evening.

Hopefully it’s not too serious and we’ll see him racing again soon.
