James Dunn resumes his racing career by returning to Arenacross for this weekend’s double-header at Birmingham.
He’ll contest the Pro 450 class, and will line up alongside new Portuguese team-mate Diogo Graca in the Castrol Power1 Suzuki camp, riding a RM-Z450.
Dunn was part of the Arenacross Tour’s sole two-stroke team last year when he rode under the GL12 umbrella.
French rider Florent Richier also returns to the Arenacross fold as a privateer, but with support from Buildbase Honda, in the Pro Lites category.
The super-fast Frenchman was a smidge off second place in the 2015 series – just two points behind Angelo Pellegrini – in the year that Thomas Ramette won his first AX title for the SR75 Suzuki team. And… keeping the Pro Lites line-up packed and interesting, a young hotshot from Belgium – Nolan Cordans – will be going all out to pick up some valuable Arenacross points and claim a few Lites scalps in the process.
New-for-2019, the Rookie class witnessed some close racing at Belfast and it’s set to get hotter as new riders Axel Boldrini and Preston Williams join in. Boldrini has been amongst the SX125 leaders in European supercross, and will be looking to get the better of the UK’s Adam Collings who has previously beaten the young French rider.
Williams last rode Arenacross in 2016 and showed great form in the Supermini 85cc class. He’s now fully fit after injury and ready to prove himself in the bigger-capacity class.
The introduction of a Pro-Am class for the remaining rounds at Birmingham and Sheffield has attracted healthy interest from riders itching to have a go at AX, but not quite ready to mix it with the Pros. A full line-up, gearing more towards MX2 riders will include Trystan Williams, Luke Dean, Myles Chilvers, Jack Timms, Scott Ardren, Tex Doughty, John Slade and Christopher Jackson – get along and support them!
The action kicks off from 6pm this Friday, February 1. Some tickets will be available on the door for both Friday and Saturday, or can be secured by calling the Arena Box Office on 0844 581 6952.
