The Arenacross 2019 Tour will not run the Electric Cup class and will return to the traditional 65cc two-stroke for one more year.
Arenacross promoter ASL has announced that it will not run its proposed Kuberg AX E-Cup series for 2019, and will instead revitalise its 65cc youth class for one more year.
The reason for the u-turn is simply down to a lack of rider interest in the Kuberg AX E-Cup and a shortage of all-electric bikes. Promoter ASL said: “The deficiency in the availability of race-prepped machines, suitable to perform at the level demanded by Arenacross audiences is a factor.”
Fans will now get the chance to cheer on the seven-to-10-year-old AX heroes on 65cc machines as they bid for the chance to be the last 65cc AX youth champion. Interested parties can register their interest here: arenacrossuk.com/rider-entries
“I donāt mind putting my hands up when Iām wrong, and my honest opinion is that I made the call a year too early ā the idea is right, but the product just isnāt available yet,” admitted ASL’s Matt Bates.
“I think the 2020 series will be the ideal year for introducing the electric power class, especially with the likes of KTM and Husqvarna already announcing their E class mini bikes for later in the Summer.ā
