As the reigning Pro champion, 26-year-old Adam Chatfield will go into the UK Arenacross 2014 series as the rider everyone’s aiming to beat – not that the rapid redhead is likely to let that get in the way of his plan to take back-to-back titles…

“There’s always a little pressure when you have the #1 on your bike but I’m confident I can win again,” says Brazil-based Adam. “I ride good on the tight tracks and enjoy it more than Motocross. I know I can win and I want to win – when there’s money on the line I can normally step my level up when I have to!”

While most of us are preparing for the onset of the British winter, Adam’s soaking up the sun in South America where he’s currently honing his AX skills in the Brazilian national series – which can’t be good news for his rivals…

“I won the last round of the Brazilian Arenacross Championship but there are still two more rounds left in the series. It’s great preparation for the UK Arenacross series so I have an advantage.

“I will be home in the UK in December when I’ll be training at the Cusses Gorse SX track built by my good friend Justin Barclay. Then I’ll go to California and stay at California Motocross Holidays for two weeks before the series starts to get some last-minute training in so I’m 100 per cent ready to keep the #1 plate!”

With the 2014 series extended to seven rounds Adam’s eagerly anticipating an even bigger helping of Arenacross in the New Year.

“It’s great having a longer series – I just have to be consistent at all rounds as anything can happen in AX! I’m really excited for the series – I can’t wait to ride my Buildbase Honda with the #1 plate on it! The series can’t come quick enough!”

The seven-round 2014 Arenacross series kicks off with a double-header at the Odyssey Arena, Belfast, on January 17/18 before travelling to the LG Arena, Birmingham (January 25), the Echo Arena, Liverpool (February 2), the Metro Radio Arena, Newcastle (February 9) and the Motorpoint Arena, Sheffield (February 15). The series signs off at London’s Wembley Arena on March 1.
