RFX Suzuki will this weekend draft their fourth Arenacross replacement rider since their Italian star, Angelo Pellegrini, was injured at round one in Manchester.
Shane Carless was initially brought in at short notice for Newcastle ahead of the team bringing in former GP star Nico Aubin for the following week in Birmingham. Unfortunately, Aubin got injured at the Genting Arena so the team turned to local rider, Glenn McCormack, for the Belfast rounds.
South African and honorary Brit Neville Bradshaw will now team-up with MXGP star Evgeny Bobryshev at the FlyDSA Arena, Sheffield for round six of seven and despite the tough challenge that 2018 Power Maxed Arenacross brings, he can’t wait to line up behind the gate. “The level at Arenacross is at an all-time high, and those boys have been racing this discipline for months already,” said Bradshaw. “I just want to get out there, get some good laps in, have fun and have some good battles with the boys.”
Bradshaw is certainly no stranger to AX but hasn’t raced at this level since the Glasgow round in 2017. “My fitness is okay. I haven’t been riding a whole heap, but Iāve done enough to keep my eye in and have a good feeling on the bike,” he added.
The 2013 AX vice-champion ā he finished runner-up to Adam Chatfield ā is no stranger to riding Suzuki having raced for Heads and All Threads Suzuki and at the weekend he’ll get his hands on the new RM-Z450 and is very much looking forward to it. “I met Bobby for the first time a few weeks ago, heās cool and seems like a chilled guy, but is hungry to do well. I also know Paul (Irwin, RFX boss) pretty well as they have really supported me with various teams throughout my career.”
It’s been a special few days for Nev, and his wife Samantha, after a new member of the family was welcomed with the birth of their son Braxton Blake Bradshaw. Interestingly, when elder brother Tatum was born four years ago, Nev went out and smashed it at the ACU British Motocross Championship, taking the overall win at Foxhill. “That was one of the best weekends of my life. It’s a far shot to think I could repeat it at AX, but anything can happen, and I’ll be giving it my all, that’s for sure!”
Bradshaw isn’t the only new face for Sheffield AX with Jens Getteman joining Hugo Basaula in Team Shocktech Kawasaki for the remaining three rounds of the Arenacross series.
The penultimate round of the Arenacross Tour takes place this Saturday, the February 10, at the FlyDSA Arena, Sheffield. The Show gets underway at 7.30pm. Tickets are available from the arena website www.flydsaarena.co.uk
