UK federation to close at the end of the year
The MCFederation will shut up shop at the end of December after 12 years in business. The news was announced on social media today by MCF boss Matt Bates.
“It truly is a sad day,” said Bates. “It’s so very hard to put into words but the fact is there are far too many licensing bodies for the current size of the sport and with such opposite demands, we’re all falling victim of the dog wagging the tail.
“By this I mean that many criticise licensing bodies for not investing and not being forward-thinking enough but, equally, expect so much for so little. So whilst there are commercially unviable licensing bodies in the market willing to work for less than nothing, we are not willing to compete.”
Since it was first established the MCF has been involved in a wide variety of events including the Goodwood Festival of Speed, Carfest North and Motorcycle Live at the NEC. It also ran its own flagship Red Bull Pro Nationals and Arenacross series.
